Why are stories such a powerful sales tool? Stories generate emotion.

The importance of telling stories and what are they anyway?

Let’s talk about story, a much overused and abused word. “You have got to tell people your story” is the cry of all marketers. Some of them have learned that our brains process stories in a fundamentally different way from rational argument.

We leave our world and get lost in the story; we experience what the main character does, and the story transports us into a different world or surroundings. When the story is over, we bring that new experience into our world.

As Parick Moreau from Muse Storytelling puts it: ” A great story gives your audience an experience, one that allows them to see and feel the world as though they are the character in the story. And this is how storytelling can deeply and authentically connect people to your brand”.

Our story is about our impact.

So my story or your story is not about what we do or even why we do it; those are important conversations to have but are not our story. Our true story is the impact we have on people or the planet, and it’s the stories of these people that we need to tell so the viewer can see and feel the world as though they are the character in your story.

Why is story such a powerful sales tool? Stories generate emotion, and we buy on emotions. Emotion builds powerful relationships.
